Excellent Stay Near SJO Airport

Pros: Casa Cafetal was perfect for a short stopover near the airport. Communication with the manager was excellent. The house was clean, comfortable, and close to restaurants and cafés. After 20 hours of traveling, it was a great place to rest—we slept very well. Highly recommended for a convenient stay in Alajuela.

Convenient place to stay when landing late.

Pros: Price. Proximity to airport. Friendly host. Happy with this for our first night arriving in the dark. Our Uber stayed with us to make sure we got in safely. Very secure.

Pros: Just coming back to give another review following our second stay at Casa Cafetal following our arrival at SJO and having stayed for two further nights at the end of our trip in Costa Rica. Everything was perfect as before. We had a rental car on our final day and were able to easily park into the gated parking space provided. We used the washing machine/dryer to wash our clothes - maybe some basic instructions to start might help - but it was quite straightforward after working out how to use it. All the cooking facilities were great and it's very convenient to get some groceries at Fresh Market over the road from the house. Once again, the host Manuel was excellent. Make sure to ask him for some tips on local customs, driving and places to visit before your trip as it is so helpful!

Cons: No air-con, but fans are provided.

Pros: Nice, clean and comfortable. We spent only one night, it was a perfect place to recover from the long journey. Host was very kind and prompt with answering all questions and providing details.

Cosy, secure apartment close to airport

Pros: Casa Cafetal is conveniently located close to the airport, which was great as we arrived really late at night in Costa Rica and didn't fancy staying in the city centre with an onward trip out of town the next day. We also rented a car from a car rental close to the airport. The apartment had everything we needed, including cooking and laundry facilities. Secure (gated) parking. There are restaurants, mini supermarket and ATM across the road, which was very handy. The host, Manuel, is friendly and was very responsive in answering our questions both before and during our trip. We had a comfortable stay and would really recommend staying here.
