Very close to the vulcano

Pros: The location is right on the Poas slope. The owner is extremely nice and welcoming. The same the staff. Just mind that this is a place in mountains so be prepared with some warmer clothes.

Cons: Bathroom was pretty cold.

Pros: Stunning views from the property. We stayed in a dome and it was clean and comfortable. The bed was very comfortable. The bath by the window was very relaxing.

Cons: It was very noisy with loud dogs, the donkey and traffic noise into the night. Otherwise a great stay.

Pros: The room was comfortable and spacious. Ideal for visiting the Poas Volcano - only a few minutes up the road. A couple of really good restaurants nearby.

Cons: Check in/Check out a bit chaotic. Not a great breakfast.

Very close to the volcano

Pros: The hotel room was spacious, and there was a heater available. The beds were comfortable, the breakfast was good, and the staff was very nice and attentive. I guess the location must be wonderful with good weather conditions.

Cons: We stayed at this place during a cold, windy storm. It was only 12°C outside when we arrived, and the room wasn't heated. There was a draft from the bathroom windows, and the hot water was inconsistent, so we couldn't take a warm shower.

Country setting, scenic views, car preferred

Pros: Charming hotel way out by some fields near Poasito. The views are superb and you feel like you are on a farm. There are cows nearby, a donkey, two shaggy dogs, and at least one cat. The staff are helpful and a nice breakfast is included.

Cons: If you don't have a car, you might have trouble. There is no grocery store within walking distance, only a few restaurants that close early in the evening. Walking back to the hotel from the restaurants along the winding road in the dark is dangerous. I asked the staff about hikes from the hotel, but their only suggestions were a very short one (a few hundred meters) on the property, and another one by an adjacent field that turned out to consist of walking down a hill through cow dung. A small complaint about the shower in the room: it is angled too far inward, so you have to stand close to the wall and you keep bumping up against the shower knobs.

A charming, quiet hotel that gave good value for its price

Pros: The hotel is located 7 minutes from the entrance to the nature reserve (Nacional Volcán Poás) so when we landed in San Jose we drove straight to it from the airport. The place is very quiet and the room was very nicely decorated! Unfortunately we stayed at this hotel only one night.

Wonderful place and people. Highly recommended.

Pros: Beautiful place with a wonderful view. Extremely friendly and helpful staff. Even when we had issues with our rented car Oscar, the receptionist was extremely helpful!!! Highly recommend place.
