Pros: The grounds were incredible and the food excellent.

Amazing farm on the hills

Pros: The location itself is amazing, wonderful nature and trails to do. Yoga platforms for meditation, and many tours available. Locally grown food and home made cacao. You can have breakfast among birds and butterflies. Very cool bedrooms also in the main facility. Worth the long road, but surely needs at least a couple of days to be appreciated.

Cons: Expected higher cuisine quality with the high expectations from the location and the farms around the facility. Ingredients are not given enough value, but it's still good food and you can feel everything is genuine. Only bad part is the road, long and difficult to access with a normal car over the hill. Be prepared, especially if you arrive at evening.

Cons: It not really a dislike but getting there could be difficult due to the remoteness of property (which is also a plus point)

Pros: We loved the Macaw Lodge and most specially the wooden cabanas made of splendid exotic wood, the natural pools and cascades accessible after easy walk through the jungle, excellent breakfast overlooking beautiful exotic gardens and ponds. The opportunity to watch Martin pêcheur d’amazonie every morning, toucans tocard, pic ouentou, jacana du Mexique, dendrocygne à ventre noir, onoré du Mexique (French names)...we also recommend strongly this place for the kindness of the staff.

Pros: Tranquility. We stayed in the main lodge half board. Lovely food. Wrong time of the year for parakeets and no monkeys in the area but lovely birds, basiliks and frogs. Great quiet trails to be on your own.

A wonderful escape in a truly memorable eco lodge

Pros: Wonderful remote eco sanctuary, rare birds aplenty

Amazing secluded place for nature lovers

Pros: It’s amazing property in secluded place surrounded by pure nature. It’s touching Carara National Park and it’s home of huge variety of birds. We made a great birdwatching tour there with local guide. Local organic food that goes from farm to plate was delicious (i.e crepes with home made chocolate really surprised us). If you love nature or you are just looking for total tranquility, Macaw lodge shall be part of your consideration. You need a vehicle with high ground clearance to get there (unpaved roads).
