A comfortable, well-equipped flat with excellent service and a fantastic wildlife experience

Pros: First of all, Rodrigo came to pick us up at the dock and showed us the way to the property, which was very much appreciated. The flat was very complete and had a working kitchen equipped with essentials (coffee, tea, kettle, cookware...). The bed as very comfortable and the bathroom had everything, warm water included which worked perfectly. Rodrigo also helped us book the boat transfer from/to La Pavona dock and tours with a fantastic guide (Oscar!). Also, the property was just next to the Tortuguero National Park and you could hear the wildlife during the night, which was pretty cool.

Cons: We felt some lack of transparency regarding the various boat and tour options. We were told who we had to book our boat transfer and tours with by Casa Chilamates before arrival. This was appreciated but we were not really informed about other options which we found out on site.

Clean and well equipped Studio, quiet and away from the hussle of the center

Pros: Fully equipped kitchen, pick up from the boat, sweet little appartment

Cons: It’s a bit far to get to the main road, and the tiny streets felt like a maze. we got lost a few times walking back at night in the dark. But people were super helpful :-)

Genuine hosts, clean property, good value for money

Pros: Everything was perfect. Super helpful hosts, nice and clean property. No issues at all.

Fab accommodation, lovely hosts who met us and showed us the area and also enjoyed their tours.

Pros: Lovely ground floor apartment surrounded by beautiful gardens where you can spend your time relaxing and watching spider monkeys, humming birds and lizards to name but a few.

Cons: Absolutely nothing

Perfect stay in Tortuguero

Pros: Very nice and fully equipped apartment. Peaceful and quiet and close to the beach. The owners were super friendly and helped us with all requests. We also booked the canoe tour and the day walk tour with the location and had a great time. We highly recommend it.

Pros: What an amazing place! Very comfortable cabin with great kitchen and bed. But the location is unbeatable. Watching the animals from your doorstep is priceless. I would not want to stay anywhere else if I go to Tortuguero.

Cons: Nothing at all!

Fantastic stay - very highly recommend!!

Pros: Wow, what can I say - this was such a fantastic stay. From when we arrived to Tortuguero to when we left, everything was perfect. We paid for the turtle pack tour and it was everything we wished for, really recommend. Rodrigo was an amazing host and Fabian was a great tour guide on all three tours (turtle, canoe and hike). I am very picky when it comes to stays and I would honestly recommend anyone to stay at this place - Rodrigo is doing amazing work for the community and we were so happy we got to see a small part of that. I could write so many more positive things about this place but you really have to go and experience it for yourself :)

Good

Pros: The accommodation is right in nature and is close to the beach and other facilities (like everywhere in Tortuguero). There are some people that say the accommodation is in an area where they didn’t feel safe. But it’s fine over there, it’s almost next to a school and very private. The host also lives on the property and it’s the same feeling as everywhere else in Tortuguero, so don’t be afraid. It’s all fine and safe!

Cons: The accommodation has many (big) cracks around the windows, so be prepared for some insects crawling/getting into the house. We also booked the turtle package (turtles, canoe and hike through the n.p.) via Trips Nativos. We got Alfonso as a tourguide for the canoe tour and the turtle tour. He is knowledgeable but almost doesn’t talk (maybe English is hard for him). We had to ask so much to get some little information.. so both were a bit disappointing (we saw a turtle - also standing around a turtle with 60 other people in low season isn’t really ‘romantic’. The guide told us that in high season there are 900+ people on the beach - and in the morning we also saw some animals) in the afternoon we got his brother Abel for the walk through the n.p. And that was a total different adventure. He explains a lot and is very funny and friendly. The walk itself isn’t that great (other n.p. are more beautiful - and it’s just a road near the beach where you can walk yourself), but Abel really made the tour!

Pros: Comfortable house with a beautiful garden, well equipped. Very friendly and helpful owners that helped us to get there and organize the tours.

Cons: All was great, maybe one recommendation would be to add a hammock on the patio to be able to fully relaxed:)
