Natural Lodge Caño Negro

A fine lodge with lovely grounds and good tours.

Pros: The monkeys in the trees, the birds at the feeder, the soft music, the staff, the food, the grounds. The friendly dog was a bonus.

Cons: The 22 km of dirt road to reach the lodge.

Perfect place to have vacation 😃

Pros: The facility is so great, lovely garden and a nice pool area. We got great support from the reception to book tours. The staff are very friendly and professional. The food is excellent, the chef is very professional. The whole facility was very clean. The manager and his family are very welcoming. We highly recommend this place.

Lovely place to stay

Pros: Lovely hotel and grounds. Good food and bar. Super attentive staff and management.

A remote and nice stay in the middle of nature

Pros: Caño Negro is remote and the road is not too great but the lodge is a quiet place surrounded by beautiful nature. The place is very nice and spacious. The room is a bit outdated but looks clean. Some of the staff is not very experienced in how to put the customer on #1 but they are really friendly.

Cons: The prices are quite high in comparison to the basic rooms. The portions of the food are very small. Also you have to make a menu choice the day before but it would be more customer friendly if you can just order when you are having breakfast, lunch or dinner.

Great location... very friendly staff.

Pros: Quiet, room besides forest, lot's of birds, monkeys, deers. Lovely trails. A very short walk, the Rio Frio is bustling with birds, caymans and other animals.

Cons: Room needs a small fridge and a ceiling fan. The AC is adequate, but the fan would make the air circulate and the fridge allow to have drinks in the room without having to ask for ice all the time.

Fab Lodge with wonderful food.

Pros: This is a lovely lodge in a beautiful setting. The staff are all very friendly and go out of their way to help. The food is exceptionally good and also very good value for money. After a month of travelling in Costa Rica, I would say it was probably the best food we had the whole trip. ¹

A great option for visiting Caño Negro

Pros: A very clean and comfortable room. Food was excellent. Staff were professional and friendly. Good location for boat trips.

A lovely ,friendly lodge near the river. Would highly recommend taking guided tours of the river .

Pros: Great location close to the river and easy to explore the area.The bird life is exceptional and the guides very knowledgeable. Staff and owners were very friendly and helpful. The menu was varied and the meals delicious.

Very pleasant, friendly staff, fab pool!

Pros: Very nice swimming pool, just what’s needed to cool off from the heat.

Cons: No wifi apart from the main building; given that the whole point of coming to this area is for a tour on the river, it should be more seamless to book a trip - we got one in the end, though they threatened that we would have to pay ‘extra’. We didn’t, in the end, pay extra, but the whole process seemed harder than it should have been.

Well worth travelling the extra

Pros: The hotel is tastefully set in beautiful natural surroundings. The staff team were very helpful is organising our trips & arranging breakfast to go for a very early start. Food was wonderful.
