We highly recommend Fortuna Retreat for anyone wanting a peaceful stay with top-tier service

Pros: We had a fantastic stay at Fortuna Retreat and what truly made the experience stand out was the exceptional hospitality. Even before we arrived, Yoel was incredibly helpful and responsive. He took all the stress out of planning by arranging several activities and tours for us. Knowing we had a local expert ready to help at a moment's notice made our trip so much smoother. Thank you Yoel, for making our stay so memorable. If you are looking for a break from the noise, this is the place. It is quiet and calm, located just outside the busy city center. But don't let the distance worry you as an Uber ride is very affordable and only takes a few minutes to get into the heart of the town or nearby hotsprings. The atmosphere is serene and relaxing, with a stunning view of the volcano. The hotel clearly cares about the guest experience. Even though the tropical weather can be unpredictable, they provided free umbrellas for us to use, which was very thoughtful and practical.

Pros: Beautiful accommodation. Staff went out of their way to get me a kettle and milk for my cuppa! Uber transport make this a great place to stay as it is 3 km from the town. View of Arenal Mountain is super with the fabulous garden in the foreground.

Pros: We had a wonderful stay at Fortuna Retreat. The rooms have a great view of the Arenal Volcano and are very clean, spacious, and super comfortable. The staff were kind and helpful throughout our stay and truly made us feel at home. We booked a few tours directly with them, with convenient pick-up and drop-off at the hotel. Breakfast is included at a restaurant just a 5-minute walk away, and as a bonus, the area is great for birdwatching. Highly recommend!

Amazing stay, with super kind service

Pros: We had an amazing stay, and the service was super. The breakfast is only a few steps away- and it is worth it, as you can see so man birds during the breakfast. The Retreat is loacated perfectly: with an amazing view and activities/ restaurants only a view minutes away

Cons: For awareness: the bed is small for tall people :)

Amazing stay with the family in the beautiful Fortuna Retreat.

Pros: We loved staying at the beautiful Fortuna Retreat. The view from the room was stunning, the rooms itself beautiful and spacious, and the mattress very comfortable. Showering was a special experience as if one showered in the rainforest. The staff, Yoel and Alfonso, went out of their way to be helpful and made great recommendations and helped with reservations. We cannot wait to go back.

Cons: Could hear footsteps of room above Doors wouldn't lock so bit risky/lets bugs in

La Fortuna a lovely location

Pros: We were met by Joel and he was very welcoming and carried our suitcases for us. The room was beautiful.Joel went out of his way to drop off an adapter on his day off to enable us to charge our phones. All in all we had a wonderful stay and the view from the room was amazing.

Cons: Nothing.

A wonderful stay overall

Pros: We had a private villa which was gorgeous. Big comfy firm bed. The plunge pool was ice cold but ideal for cooling off. Beautiful surroundings. There was a very handy shop on the corner to get drinks and snacks as it’s not near much. An uber into town was only roughly £2 though and were readily available. I did email specifically asking if there was a shop nearby when I booked and this was not mentioned though so a tip for others. A wonderful time and we’ll treasure those memories forever. It was our honeymoon.

Cons: Our experience was soured somewhat at check out. On our last day our door code stopped working. I messaged the number we were given ‘if we need anything’ and was told it would be looked at ‘in a minute’. So we went to breakfast. When we returned there was no sign of anyone at the hotel even though reception was supposed to be open and I was calling the number with no answer. We were knocking on doors, calling, messaging, pleading - not a soul to be found. We were in a panic as we needed to get back into our room to get our things because we had a shuttle service picking us up in just a few minutes. Eventually the woman manning reception turned up, nearly an hour late saying she was late because she couldn’t find her pass. She then asked me why the code wasn’t working - as if I know or have any control over it! Clearly it was a fault their end and/or they’d disabled it early. We got back in the room just in time for our pick up (luckily we’d already packed) but there was a severe breakdown in service there with no apology or any sense of urgency or responsibility. Our predicament felt shrugged off. Wouldn’t put me off booking again but a warning that they are not reliable. Other staff were much more helpful during our stay.

Private slice of paradise for our trip to La Fortuna, beautiful villa and incredible views.

Pros: Beautiful villa overlooking Arenal volcano. The bathroom is amazing too - surrounded by glass windows into a private green space. The staff were lovely and had great recommendations too and we actually bumped into the owners who were lovely and gave us a lift into town. Breakfast was amazing too, very short walk away and you’re submerged in the forest while enjoying delicious food.

Cons: Everything was perfect.

Amazing stay with beautiful view

Pros: The breakfast is close by the property, 3 min walk, and it's beautiful. The rooms are super clean and the location is amazing. You can drive there very easy or book a taxi via Uber. Didn't see the staff a lot but they were kind.

Cons: The pool was a bit cold but it was also rainy season.
