El Gecko Hotel & Tours

Pros: It is beautiful, close to the tour I did, quiet and close to many restaurants. I had a wonderful sleep and a fantastic breakfast

Cons: I liked my stay very much

Pros: Laid back place, simole furnishings but very clean and offering good value for money. Inge was helpful with information such as timetables for buses and the ferry. Highly recommended.

Pros: Very cozy. Friendly staff. I loved the bioluminescent tour. Perfect location.

Pros: Inge and Juan were geat hosts, and created a nice cozy plaze. We also got an incredible breakfast. while staying there we took the chance to do some of their tours which were great, definitely do that!

Cons: nothing to do with the hotel in general, but better be prepared to be frustrated by the local ATM ;) it took uns 4 mastercards to get some cash in town.

Pros: Breakfast was great to start our day. Hostess was very kind and helpful.

You feel at home!

Pros: Beautiful property and the kindest hosts! It's a family run bnb and they welcome their guests with care. They were very flexible, they provided delicious food at their restaurant and local recommendations for activities in the area. The room was as expected and very clean. We highly recommend going to Curú Wilfdlife Refuge during your stay, we enjoyed the beach and saw wildlife up close along the jungle trails and in the mangroves!

Pros: Our room was comfortable and clean, unfortunately no AC (which we knew beforehand) but a fan. The nights get cooler anyway, so no need for an AC. The Hotel was very lovely, on our first day we saw 2 monkeys directly from the common area. Breakfast and dinner were really good while still really cheap. We enjoyed every of our meals there. If you don't have a car it might be tricky to get around and to reach meeting points of tours. Luckily our host and her family were really welcoming and offered us multiple rides ! We did both tours offered by the hotel. I wouldn't particularly recommend the tour to Isla Tortuga. It was really nice, but we didn't get to see that much. However if you stay at El Gecko, definitely go for the Kyak Bioluminescence Tour. It felt magical.

Pros: It was a hidden gem. Inga, the owner, is very nice and easy to talk to. It was a bonus seeing nature around and the green parrot that lives there. The restaurant was great, Inga, is a wonderful cook. You get your money's worth and more. I would definitely stay there again.

Pros: Quiet place a little away from the city center, parking space, shared kitchens and bathrooms.

Cons: It’s missing some support for amenities in the shower/bathroom
