La Selva Biological Station

Fabulous wildlife watching.

Pros: Amazing location for birding and other wildlife watching. Staff were great. The grounds are magnificent.

Cons: The food is mass produced but is as good as you can expect in that case.

We will definitely be returning.

Pros: Super easy access to deep primary rainforest with trails accessible by pushchairs!

Pros: It's in the middle of the rain forest, sharing it with howling monkeys, red eyed frogs and sloths!

Comfortable stay

Pros: Great research station that is very good for people interested in birding or other wildlife watching. The place is obviously not the most luxurious as their focus is on the conservation however it's comfortable enough and clean and well-maintained. The people who helped us check in were super nice and stayed in communication with us as we would be a bit later than 5pm. They also conduct free birding tours every morning for people who are staying there

Pros: Amazing wildlife, great guides, and superb rainforest habitat

Wildlife City

Pros: The wildness of the area. Gardens, Forest, and the River running through it with lots of wildlife including Sloths, bats and Silky anteater

Cons: Beds were a little too hard..

Superb. Magnificent forest and accommodation and food excellent

Pros: Every single thing. Magnificent forest with easy access. Plenty of wildlife sightings. Food and accommodation excellent.

Pros: Clean and spacious rooms on the edge of the rainforest. breakfast buffet was good. 24/7 access to a network of trails through beautiful primary and secondary rainforest. We have seen a lot of animals and we didn´t even use a guide. Highly recommended for naturalists

Cons: No A/C but it was ok the nights haven´t been too warm. The roads leading to the rooms and to the HQ are in bad condition.

An excellent place to stay right in the rain forest as a base for guided and self-guided walks

Pros: This research station is interesting place to visit and stay at. The room was rather old and basic, but clean and comfortable, and a very nice 1km walk on a clear path through the rain forest to the main reception/dining area. The evening meal and breakfast were substantial and tasty and best of all, the overnight accommodation includes a 3-hour morning walk with a guide from ther station. Lots of wildlife, some of which we were also able to see on a couple of short walks we did ourselves - we wish we could have stayed longer to explore more of the reserve
