Cabinas La Catarata

Spacious cabin, beautiful setting

Pros: Huge cabin with massive comfy bed and hot tub. Great to be down by the river. Beautiful gardens and great wildlife on the doorstep. Super clean.

Cons: A little far from town. Breakfast was only ok. TV didn't work which didn't really matter but we asked them to look at it and they didn't. Also cleaner left our cabin unlocked one day.

A nature‘s paradise!

Pros: The view from our log cabin‘s balcony was most idyllic and it was a good size with a bench, small table, chairs and a hammock. We were in one of the cabins built on a steep slope and down below we could see parts of the river. The room inside was big and the bed large. A short path led down to the river through some beautiful forest and the whole complex was beautiful with lovely plants and many bird species. It way also quiet, without any traffic noise.

Cons: It would have been nice to have a kettle, hairdryer and more light inside the cabin. Breakfast was included in the price but was a bit disappointing, especially the juice which wasn’t proper juice but squash. We preferred to have breakfast out as there’s no shortage of good eateries in La Fortuna.

Felt like we were staying in a beautiful natural environment.

Pros: Really liked the delux category room. Nice view. Very comfortable.

A lovely location, lovely staff, great breakfast.

Pros: This is a lovely place to stay in La Fortuna. It's about 25 min walk from town, but that was it's charm. Very close to a river and to nature. Great for bird watching! The breakfast was typical Costa Rican, which really sets you up for the day. Breakfast is outside on a terrace, which as a bird table and lots of colourful birds pop by, from humming birds to woodpeckers :) The staff are charming.

Cons: Small point, but I think the cabins are all a little different. Our one was very nice, clean etc. We went in another couples' cabin which had a little more natural light.

In a good area, great value and lovely breakfast.

Pros: Good communication beforehand and we were greeted on arrival by a gentleman who spoke really good English and showed us around. Our Cabina was down by the river and had a spa bath on the terrace outside, along with two great rocking chairs. It was like having your own little jungle with much birdlife around. You could walk down to the river which was 2 minutes away. I believe we were in one of the high end cabinas, but it was worth it. The bed was comfortable and the shower was a good size. Shampoo provided - just bring your own shower gel. Breakfast was of really good quality. The location of the property was brilliant and there were great restaurants within walking distance. The swimming pool was lovely. Very handy for everything in La Fortuna. All in all a great stay.

Cons: Our cabina was down a rather rough and steep slope at the bottom of the grounds. We are reasonably fit and healthy and we also had a 4 x 4 vehicle so all fine for us. You had to get used to the noise of the river running by, but we did not find this a big problem. If you had any walking difficulties then choose a property nearer to the reception. There were not enough sun beds by the pool and it would have been handy to have a toilet in that area too. Very small things and we would really recommend staying here.

Perfect and cost effective

Pros: The location was perfect, far enough away from central La Fortuna, but an easy walk in to the town . Our room and the bed were huge, with an excellent jungle view! There was an abundance of tropical birds right near to the verandah. Lovely place to stay!

Comfortable, clean and well located accommodation

Pros: Rooms were spacious and very clean, great location close to everything but far enough away so that it was peaceful and close to nature. The owners were very kind and helpful, nothing was too much trouble. Everything was great. Our children loved the pool and the walk down to the river.

Cons: Everything was great.

Lovely quiet stay near LA Fortuna waterfalls.

Pros: Good location in quiet area near La Fortuna falls. Cabin very private with feeling of being in jungle, and can hear water cascading in river below. King Suze bed with comfortable mattress. Hot water in large shower. Lots of birds around breakfast area.

Cons: Small improvements would make cabin more comfortable ... eg 2 hooks in bathroom to hang towels, storage shelves to unpack clothing.

Loved it here

Pros: We loved our stay here. The pool, beautiful gardens, and all the beautiful birds around made it very special.

Pros: Absolutely wonderfull place! Amazing garden with loads of birds. When the owner saw I was fotographing he put some extra fruit out (and he showed me pictures of him gandfeeding tucans). Anazing pool, hughe rooms. It is a 20 minute walk outside of town, which for me is a plus, as it is nice and quiet, but close enough to just go.
