Wonderful place to stay to indulge in wildlife.

Pros: A magical place for birdwatching on the water. The owner Douglas can provide excellent English speaking guides or do trips himself. We took a three hour kayaking trip, night walk and early morning three hour guided boat trip.Nothing is too much trouble for him. The accommodation was spacious and very clean , set in beautifully maintained gardens which attracted the birds. Very quiet at night. Cabins have AC. Douglas can provide a substantial breakfast and there is an excellent restaurant for lunch and dinner next door.

Cons: For us, nothing.

A phenomenal stay - a must visit!

Pros: My stay here was spectacular. I really rate the eco lodge experience as they are small family owned local businesses that support other local businesses. Douglas and Jacob live and breathe the local lagoon and are absolute experts on the area. I saw a phenomenal amount of wildlife and the area is in pristine condition, well-cared for by the locals. This lagoon will astound you and the property backs straight onto the lagoon which is a great experience. I must say, the knowledge Jacob has is exceptional. I went on a river cruise safari, kayaking safari, horse riding and a night tour. Douglas was kind enough to lend me gumboots for the night tour because there was a lot of rain. We saw a Fer De Lance on the night tour and I loved it. A lot of other animals too. The kayaking was fantastic way to see the lagoon! The restaurant next door will provide your meals except for breakfast which is at the property. They were kind enough to provide coffee before our early starts.

Cons: Mattress springs were a bit hard to sleep on

A comfortable place to stay in a semi remote part of the country.

Pros: The accommodations were a touch rustic but clean and comfortable with AC. They helped us arrange a guided bird boating tour on short notice for the next morning and we got a lot of new birds. They also prepared an early breakfast for us before the tour. There is a nice bar. restaurant complex 40 meters away with active bird feeders and good food as well.

Cons: No hot water in the my shower but in general the place was very hot and humid during the day so that may not have been a concern to many people..

the river trip is a must if staying here. So many birds and animals.

Pros: nice place to stay. Friendly owner and excellent trip on the river. Lots of birds nearby.

Wonderful family hotel with beautiful surroundings and many species of birds

Pros: We had an incredible stay at this wonderful family hotel. The surroundings are beautiful and very close to the large wetlands. There was a laguna only a few meters down form our room where we also spotted many species of bird. By taking a boat up the river you can see even more varieties of birds, caimans, and turtles. Cano Negro is one of our favorite places to visit in all of Central America due to its beautiful nature and diversity of birds. We will definitely come back in the future! Noteworthy, the family also offer dinner which was absolutely delicious. Highly recommended!

Sollte ich wiederkommen dann würde ich die Lodge wieder buchen.

Pros: Die Familie war sehr nett und hilfreich bei der Beantwortung meiner Fragen. Ich hatte sehr schöne Touren mit dem Boot. Der Caño Negro Park sollte bei einer Reise nach Costa Rica mit eingebunden werden. Für Vogelliebhaber ein muss. Es gibt aber auch sehr viele Kaimane und Iguanas, Affen etc.. zu sehen. Neben der Lodge befindet sich unmittelbar ein gutes Restaurant.

Cons: היתה חסרה תאורה לקריאה בחדר.

Pros: It was a decent room with good AC and comfortable beds. It also had a little kitchen to prepare food. The bathroom.was basic, but decent. It was a good deal for the area, and the restaurant next door was very good.

Cons: There was some communication issues surrounding booking tours. We had been speaking for weeks over booking.com regarding reserving tours for the afternoon I arrived and the following morning, with a bilingual guide. But when I arrived, the individual working didn't know anything about it, and I couldn't get a hold of the person I had been communicating with. I was only there for one day, so I was a little worried. I was convinced to take a night tour (would not recommend) instead of the afternoon boat tour. Ultimately, the AM boat tour was great, and probably adequate, but it would've been less stressful if they had followed through with our prior conversations (and their offers) and have been prepared when I arrived.

Inviting staff and a very nice space!

Pros: The room was air conditioned, the staff was very nice and we enjoyed the proximity to the wildlife preserve.
