Villa Calas

A lovely off the beaten track place to stay, well located for the unmissable La Paz waterfalls. Gorgeous food too!

Pros: Excellent food - we had several meals here and everything was outstanding. Great service and very helpful staff. Apartments were lovely as were the gardens and mountain views. There are three trails you can walk from Villa Calas - we did them all and all were lovely. Well located for visiting Poas Volcano and La Paz waterfalls which was the highlight of our stay.

Cons: The only thing I would mention is the noise from the road at night- lots of big lorries and motorcycles at all hours. Also the location is quite isolated. If you have a car this is no problem but we did not so had to rely on taxis which Villa Calas kindly arranged for us - make sure you have cash for taxis before you arrive as there is no ATM nearby. None of this spoiled our stay though.

the lovely cottages

Pros: We stayed in the lovely cottages with a fireplace and had such a wonderful evening there. The atmosphere was cozy and relaxing, and the fireplace made it especially charming. The restaurant was absolutely delicious - we truly enjoyed the food. It’s a very convenient option to have everything in one place. The cleanliness was perfect - everything was spotless and very well maintained. Overall, we had a great experience and would definitely recommend it.

Cons: As a small recommendation, it would be great to improve or replace the shower faucet. It was quite difficult to use, and it was only possible to wash the upper part of the body comfortably. However, this is just a minor suggestion for improvement.

Pros: It was everything more than perfect!!!! Area is miraculeus, the whole complex unique, the team is so friendly, professional and ready to support you in any issue!!!! The offer in restaurant for breakfast and dinner is unique, as well, with all fresh ingredients, from meat, vegetables, caffee… it is a natural oasis with wonderfull people!!!!!!!

This was my second visit in two years. I love the location, staff, bed, grounds and restaurant.

Pros: Loved the staff, the restaurant, the grounds, location. The food was very good. The staff very helpful. The bed was comfortable as well as the blankets etc. TV worked fine and we were able to watch the Super Bowl no problem. The price was perfect for what you get and really the restaurant and staff and bed are well worth it. The grounds are extensive, hiking on the grounds beautiful. The price is right!

Cons: There was a big step down to the sitting area, close to the bed that was easy to fall off of. Also the fireplace was difficult to light. Couldn't get a fire going. The shower was good but the door needed a wedge to keep it closed and sometimes had to wait for hot water.
