Costa Rica 🇨🇷

A comfortable and pleasant stay

Pros: Genesis was very nice and responsive to all our requests and questions. This is a lovely location, The rooms are simple but more than adequate. El Castillo area has more to offer than I thought and nice to be away from the overcrowded La Fortuna. The breakfast was very good, with 2 choices.

Cons: The nearby karaoke bar was a bit loud at night. Bring earplugs if a light sleeper. Could definitely use more shelves in the 'kitchen' area and our room had just the one sink for the bathroom and kitchen area. But it was nice to have the small fridge and coffee maker in the room.

Pros: Location is amazing, though the fact it's more remote also means a bit longer to get to various activities. Very quiet, good view of the Arenal volcano, good breakfast. Large room. Last but not least, very pleasant host.

Cons: No A/C, but that may not bother most people.

Good lodge for a reasonable price

Pros: The room was spacious and the bed was good, from the terrace a nice view of the Arenal volcano. The breakfast was okay.

Cons: There was no mirror above the sink, which you need when shaving, but this is just a minor problem.

Great and peaceful place near la Fortuna

Pros: Wonderful place to disconnect from the busy towns, peaceful, with a beautiful view on the volcano 🌋 and the valley Tasty restaurant just 1 min walking from the hostel Very kind staff, great breakfast

Cons: Just be aware that this place is a 30 min drive from la Fortuna and not « 200m from downtown » as shown in the research results for hostels in la Fortuna
