ALAJUELA CITY Hotel & Guest House

Excellent, we stayed two nights and it was a great way to finish our Costa Rica trip.

Pros: Location, close to airport ($8 taxi ride and 10 minute drive) and in centre of Alajuela, the hotel is an oasis of peace in a busy and bustling area. The breakfast is good, the staff are really helpful and the room we had (en-suite) was quiet and comfortable. A special mention for Farlen who helped us with recommendations for the local area.

Cons: A nice extra would have been tea and coffee available during the day but there are great coffee shops nearby.

Fabulous staff and location . Careful to book en-suite and AC if you want that .

Pros: Staff were wonderful . Good location . Watch out that you don’t book a shared bathroom which we did by accident and so did other people . I have never done this before . It was however only a small price to upgrade to en-suite on second night but beware of this if it is important to you .

Cons: Ironically the last owner . She chose to do a 30 minute interview outside my bedroom no 2 in a public lounge . Nauseating to listen to . Spoke of “ stupid “ people who book shared bathroom by mistake whilst saying how the staff must treat guests really well . To be fair the staff were exemplary but that interview should have been out of earshot and I shouldn’t need to tell her that . Breakfast was free below par in quality .

Short but perfectly pleasant overnight stay before catching shuttle bus south

Pros: Location was handy for the airport - only a short taxi ride away We arrived late and were able to check in without any problem

Cons: Nothing - only stayed for less than 8 hours

Pros: Perfect location for an overnight before my domestic flight.

Cons: My airport shuttle was a little late but that’s not their fault - there was a football match on so there was very heavy traffic

Cute, practical hotel well located in alajuela and next to the airport.

Pros: Cute hotel in the center of Alajuela. Very practical if you need to stay one night before or after getting at the airport. The personal is very nice and helpful and the breakfast is better than most breakfasts proposed in hotels in Costa Rica.

Nice and welcoming hotel.

Pros: 24h reception, arranged an airport shuttle for us and had very friendly staff and great breakfast. The hotel is located right in the city centre with anything needed within walking distance and has a beautiful garden in the back.

Cons: Our room was the one next to the entrance and the road, so it was a bit noisy as other guests also arrived at night and there was some traffic. But for an anyway short night due to late arrival and after a long flight, it was fine.

Great little hotel close to the airport and a very short walk to Alejuela city centre/square.

Pros: Great staff, very clean and convenient location close to the city centre of Alejuela and only a few minutes to the airport. Rooms are quiet and we also enjoyed the complimentary breakfast in the courtyard. Good water pressure & hot water for showers too!

Cons: We really liked our stay - one thing that might be worth doing is getting the AC units professionally cleaned as the AC smells a little musty - nothing terrible but an easy fix. We have a house in CR and have to do this at least once a year.

Pros: Nice little garden to enjoy your breakfast. Very close to the airport and the city center.

Great hotel close to the airport

Pros: The staff here were v friendly, the service was good and there was a great selection for breakfast. The property was easy walking distance to shops restaurants and bars and only 10 mins taxi from the airport

Pros: Hospitality of staff was amazing and gave great service. Would rebook again when touring city of San José.
