Pros: Beach front location is fantastic. Restaurant is very good.

Cons: A couple of minor inconveniences... Dark hallway to manage room entry and shower door unable to close properly.

Hotel on the beach

Pros: Right on the beach. Rooms were a good size and clean. Nice little area to sit upstairs, over looking the hotel and beach.

Cons: Quite a remote area if youre looking for choice, with only really one restaurant in the nearby hotel. So had to eat at the hotel or the one next door. We'd had fantastic food all over costa Rica. This was still good, but felt it catered more for the tourists, rather than the traditional food.

If you are in this area, I definitely recommend this hotel. It is in a really great location.

Pros: The hotel is in a fantastic location—right next to a beautiful beach. The restaurant serves excellent breakfasts.

Cons: The view from the room was of a not very attractive wall.

Perfect place near the airport to soak it all up

Pros: Great restaurant with plenty of shade and seaview. Rooms beautifully designed. Staff was very helpful and kind. Great Margaritas! And BBQ steak

Our stay was exceptional and we highly recommend El Velero.

Pros: My wife and I arrived on a very early flight from Canada, and got to the hotel at about 6:30a.m. - way to early for check-in. Paula graciously allowed us to stash our luggage behind the front desk - and let us access our stuff frequently. She gave us free use of all the facilities until we could check in. So thoughtful and hospitable!

Cons: It was hot in our room for part of our stay, but that was mostly my fault as I couldn't figure how to operate the remote control for the air conditioner. Maybe a little initial training on the remote would help.

We had a best family vacation at Hotel El Valero and Playa Hermosa.

Pros: Hotel El Valero and Playa Hermosa felt like part of your previous life that you have really missed. All the staff were excellent, and room, while not large, was well designed and in great condition. Restaurant staff, including Oscar, Juan, and their peers were intuitive and food and drinks were excellent.

Cons: Not much at all 😊
