Hotel Esperanza

A warm and friendly spot right near one of the best swimming and sunset beaches in Costa Rica.

Pros: We loved Hotel Experanza! Not knowing this area, we booked based on just a bit of research but weren't sure. Dennis and Kari are such welcoming hosts, we immediately felt like friends. The hotel itself is cute and clean and although it is on a busy road, the hotel itself is fairly private and very comfy with a nice pool and deck area and seating areas outside each room. It's just a short walk down to Playa Carillo which is one of the best beaches in Costa Rica. There are also a number of shops, restaurants and cafes within a minute's walk. Also just a short drive to busier Samara. Breakfast was home-made and hearty, with lots of options to choose from. We'd definitely stay here again if we come back to this area.

Cons: A bit of noise from the road, but honestly that's the case with very many hotels in Costa Rica which are often close to the main roads. It didn't bother us much.

Beautiful Esperanza

Pros: Quiet and quaint place. The owners were wonderful to deal with, very accommodating. Wonderful location, lots of places to eat within walking distance. Breakfast was also wonderful, great variety of food.

Pros: Dennis and Kari are amazing hosts who cater to every need. They are always available to answer questions and offer local travel advice. They served a very good breakfast every morning.

A comfortable home from home a short walk to a beautiful beach.

Pros: This is a real home from home. A short walk to a beautiful beach. Denis and Carrie will make you so welcome and make a delicious breakfast.

Our stay was comfortable and clean with enjoyable hosts.

Pros: Location to beach was convenient Dennis and Kari were amazing/helpful and always available to help when necessary. The breakfast was made to order and delicious The hotel was conveniently located close to grocery stores and restaurants.

Cons: The hotel is quite close to the main road, expect some traffic noise.

We felt very welcome and had an enjoyable stay.

Pros: Dennis and Karina were excellent hosts, and very attentive. The breakfast menu was quite extensive, with good service. We were glad that it was just a short walk downhill to get to the beach.

Cons: I would have preferred on-site parking, away from the road. Also, traffic noise at times was annoying.

Very lovely hotel and owner. Beautiful beach

Pros: Karina and Denis are absolutely lovely and helpfull with everything. We arrived as tourists and left after 10 nights as friends. The location to the beautiful beach „Playa Carrillo“ is very close. Anytime again.

Cons: The only thing is with the noise from the close road. But this you have all over Costa Rica at the main roads.

So welcoming and on first name terms from the time we arrived.

Pros: Dennis and his wife were so accommodating and helpful. You felt like part of a family.

Pros: Hosts were excellent; felt like being welcomed by family in a new country. Great welcome and introduction to Costa Rica for our first few days here. Breakfasts were amazing and plentiful, with fresh fruit and variety. We never left hungry! Dennis and Karina went above and beyond to make our stay exceptional. Short walk down a hill to an amazing beach, great restaurants and two stores right there. Pool was great as well. Thank you so much!

Very relaxing stay, we would highly recommend

Pros: Very friendly and warm welcome from Dennis and Carrie. Nothing too much trouble, and always helpful. Lovely breakfast by the pool, our room was very nice and the location was good for the best beach we saw in Costa Rica. We were very lucky to see humpback whales on a boat trip with Francisco, which we booked over the road.

Cons: Only annoyance were the motorbikes reving up as they went past , but this was only in the daytime, and the hotel is near the road.
