Rio Perdido Hotel & Thermal River

A secret place in Costa Rica you should not miss

Pros: Amazing and unique place. A secret, non-touristic resort with amazing location, amenities and staff.

Cons: Food is a little bit overpriced.

Magical setting with room for improvement

Pros: Rio Perdido’s location is absolutely breathtaking— nestled in nature with stunning thermal rivers I simply couldn’t get enough of. The staff were warm, helpful, and truly went out of their way to make guests feel welcome.

Cons: I stayed in one of the central bungalows, and while the setting was tranquil, the room itself didn’t quite meet expectations for the price point. It was quite dark due to poor lighting, and several basic amenities that you would expect in every hotel, such as slippers, cotton pads, etc. were missing. The minibar wasn’t even plugged in, which was disappointing given how useful a stocked fridge could be in such a remote location. I also found the presence of TVs in the restaurant and lounge areas a bit out of place—they somewhat disrupted the natural, serene atmosphere. Still, despite these small let-downs, the overall experience was so unique and rejuvenating that I’m already looking forward to returning.

Pros: Magical property in between a warm water river and the dry forest, everything was beautiful, the food was excellent and the service too (thank you Alfredo). We loved our stay!

Stunning hotel with the best thermal river in Costa Rica

Pros: The thermal river and pools were sensational. Unlike many other thermal pools this one feels really authentic

Cons: Our room had a noisy fridge which sounds a small problem but meant we didn’t sleep as well

Perfect balance of activity and relaxation

Pros: Such a beautiful hotel and great concept! There was always something to do and explore. We loved the yoga under the trees, the thermal river, the zip lining, the walks, but my very favorite thing was waking up in the morning and having this unobstructed panoramic view into the jungle. The room was perfect. Everything was very detail oriented and the staff was incredibly friendly.

Pros: One of the nicest resorts I've ever had the pleasure of visiting. Absolutely phenomenal facilities with incredibly friendly and professional staff. This was the highlight of our 2 week stay in Costa Rica...already trying to find room in the calendar to come back ASAP! If you're considering booking in here, just do it. You will not regret it.

Everything here is outstanding.

Pros: Everything here is wonderful. Staff are friendly and helpful. The food is delicious. The setting is incredible. The zip line course was fantastic.

Cons: The road on the way in is pretty tough, but well worth it.

Pros: Everything! Friendly staff, stylish and well appointed room, lovely walks, the thermal river, and delicious food.

Pros: The location is stunning, lovely staff, very good food, a lot of things to do and the yoga, tubing and the walk in the morning were great. The thermal rivers were unbelievable! It was my birthday and I got a lovely surprise in the room. Very attentive!

Cons: The rooms were very beautiful but less comfortable than expected (we stayed with 4 people in one room) and the minibar was empty besides water and coffee, the bathroom sink was unpractical for 4 people to put your stuff on, the lights in the rooms are not so good.
