Cecropia Ecolodge

Peaceful, welcoming, and surrounded by nature

Pros: My husband and I spent one night at Cecropia Ecolodge, and I wish we could have stayed longer. It’s a beautiful place surrounded by nature, and the hosts take very good care of it. Our cabin was clean, spacious, and cozy. The breakfast was very good. We also took a night tour with Jay, and we really enjoyed it, even though we didn’t have the luck of finding any snakes that night :) We really liked this place and would love to stay there again in the future.

Pros: The location is incredible: right in the middle of the rainforest, completely surrounded by nature and far away from mass tourism. A 4x4 is basically required for the last kilometers, and on colder or rainy nights you’ll be glad to have a warm pajama. The accommodation itself is very well maintained and in great condition. The large property has its own well-kept trails, perfect for exploring the rainforest straight from your doorstep. Breakfast was a daily highlight – not just delicious, but the view with birds right in front of the terrace was absolutely breathtaking. Don’t miss the night walk through the rainforest either (bring good shoes!). The hosts are genuinely wonderful people. Every recommendation they gave us was thoughtful and spot on, and we really appreciated their effort to support local businesses. Simply outstanding.

Nice lodge with beautiful grounds

Pros: The grounds were beautiful. We did the night walk which was great. Jay was very knowledgeable about the area, insects and frogs. Watching the birds at breakfast was wonderful.

Cons: The road leading up to the lodge was typical bush trail. It was raining all night and the tin roof made it loud but that's part of the experience of the ecolodge. The temperature was cold so as expected the showers were cold as well.

Pros: Our stay at Cecropia Ecolodge truly made our time in the La Fortuna area. It was so special to stay surrounded by nature, and Jay and Nohelia were the kindest people we met during our trip. Their passion for the environment and wildlife is truly infectious. A few things we would love to highlight: \t•\tThe food (both breakfast and dinner) was amazing \t•\tThe rooms were very clean \t•\tIt’s a bit of a drive from La Fortuna, but the road there is absolutely beautiful \t•\tEvery morning at 7:00 AM they feed the birds near the dining area, which is such a peaceful and special way to start the day \t•\tThe night tour with Jay is an absolute must. We were a bit nervous at first, but it turned out to be such a cool experience seeing so many animals in the dark If you’re still deciding where to stay around La Fortuna, choose this place. You won’t regret it.

Cons: Everything was perfect!

Pros: We were looking for something small and charming where we could immerse ourselves in Costa Rica's nature in peace and quiet. We found that here. Nohelia and Jay took great care of us. Thanks to them, we learned a lot about Costa Rica and the people here, and of course about the flora and fauna.

Stunning!

Pros: Absolute stunning place in the middle of the jungle. The owners were very friendly and extremely knowledgeable about all the creatures (birds, reptiles etc) around the place. Rooms are nice and clean. Highly recommended!

A total hidden gem!

Pros: Stunning location, simple but comfortable rooms and super friendly hosts. Fabulous night tour!

Cons: We needed laundry but understand not easy in this remote location. The track requires a 4x4 and is quite tricky in places.

Pros: This gorgeous find was a highlight of our whole trip in Costa rica! The owners are passionate and warm. They couldn't do enough to ensure our stay was as informative, relaxing, and involving as possible.

Cons: Not booking for longer!

A paradise in the jungle!

Pros: To be inside the forest-jungle and wake up with the sounds of birds is unbeatable. If you also add the amazing hosts and the night walk with an experienced guide then you cannot be disappointed. One of the places that you stay and never forget.

Unforgetable stay

Pros: The ecolodge is very quiet, far from town, in the middle of the forest. Paradise is near. Many many Thanks to Noelia. She is so nice for everybody. She knows how to cook for your health. It's very good. We kept in memory a unforgetable souvenir. We highly recommand this adress.
