Encanto Arenal lodge

Pros: Jacuzzi was lovely and the staff. The room was large and would have had a lovely view if not foggy

Cons: The restaurant was not at all good for either food nor service and there was nowhere to walk properly

Pros: This was a beautiful stay with the most magnificent view of the volcano. We arrived tired after a long drive and enjoyed the jacuzzi at sunset with the volcano right in front of us, it was absolutely perfect. Breakfast was delicious, with three different options to choose from. The attention and service were very good, making us feel truly welcomed. We even managed to see a sloth around the area We had seen some comments that worried us about the road, but it is now paved and in perfect condition. The location is great: only 15 minutes from downtown La Fortuna and about 5-10 minutes from the thermal waters.

A friendly stay with stunning volcano views

Pros: The staff were incredibly friendly. Due to circumstances we arrived after 9 PM, the receptionist waited for us until 11 PM. The next day they even came by our room to show us a sloth sitting in a tree right outside the property. The location is very central without being in the busy town center. And the view of the volcano from the bathtub was absolutely stunning. The daily cleaning service was great.

Cons: Breakfast is served at a nearby restaurant. It was good, though not the best we had in Costa Rica.

Pros: Perfect View from the Hot tub on the vulcano (if the weather is good)

Amazing views, great value for money

Pros: Great location away from the hustle and bustle of La Fortuna. Amazing views of the volcano right from your bed!!!!

Cons: Nothing at all.

A good base to explore the area

Pros: The hotel is down a short dirt track, you will need a car to stay here. There are views of the volcano from the back porch. The communal cooking area is very nice and there is a nice deck to enjoy the views. The room is a good size for a couple. The bed is nice and firm. The shower had plenty of hot water. The breakfast was a nice way to start your day. As long as you have a car all the attractions are easily accessible.

Bathtub makes it worth it

Pros: Bathtub, the view I suppose but cloudy for 3days..., clean, big windows, nice porch, big sharing kitchen

Cons: The bed and sheet feel like plastic, tricky roads to get there, no hook to hang clothes/towels

Two night stay, loved the location and views.

Pros: We booked two rooms, one with view of Arenal Volcano. Spectacular view and was great to be able to sit on balcony in rocking chairs and take in the view. Both rooms were clean, basic kitchen area with fridge, microwave, slow cooker. The neighbouring restaurant was open for pleasant evening meal and great breakfast (not included). Staff were helpful and also booked an early morning taxi for us in advance which was very much appreciated. Other facilities we didn’t use was a communal cooking area, large seating area and plenty of space to just chill and soak up the beauty and views.

Cons: The jacuzzi obviously hadn’t been used for a long time as the jets needed a clean, water was icy cold with no way of warming. Was a shame but is a social place and doesn’t need the jacuzzi. Just for information, not a negative, but the location is about 8km from La Fortuna, once off the main road, the lane to Encanto is in part, a typical Costa Rica unmade storey road, but we saw worse roads during our time in the country. If like remote and want the views, don’t let it put you off.

Volcano view on a budget...with comfy bed, kitchenette great shower

Pros: View of volcano, when not in clouds, is superb from rooms with that view. The garden view has some nice plants that shield the parking area...you could see your car but no need. Too off the beaten track for vandals. Despite difficult to locate even with Waze (forget Google maps here) it is a very good value. People with \

Cons: Easy to confuse with Arenal Lodge due to name..English was quite poor and apparently they dont use a digital translator. Pin only worked on Google maps.

Pros: They let me do the checkin slightly later than their official checkin times, which was nice

Cons: The dogs kept barking at me when I walked past and they were also barking at night. Also one should be aware that this location is very remote, albeit beautiful.
