Cala Lodge

A lovely spot to visit Monteverde.

Pros: We had a lovely two bedroom villa which was very well equipped. It was nice after spending many nights in hotel room. Very helpful staff who organised transport to the park and gave us details of a local company delivering food . There is a lovely trail within the property and it is walking distance from a gorgeous reserve where you can walk and then enjoy a drink on their terrace. Very special place.

Pros: the staff were incredibly friendly and full of good suggestions for things to do in the vicinity; the breakfast was delicious and filling; the property had a lovely trail and delightful views.

I would like to thank the staff at Cala Lodge for making our first trip to Costa Rica memorable.

Pros: The Villa we stayed in was amazing. Two large bedrooms two bathrooms and a fully equipped kitchen. Check in was very easy. The staff were super helpful when we wanted to go out and see the sights. Breakfast was beautiful out in the deck with nature all around us.

Cons: Honestly I can’t think of anything we didn’t like. Our stay was perfection from beginning to end.

Friendly staff and good location

Pros: Friendly helpful staff. Our room in the main lodge was simple but clean. We were provided with umbrellas, and they let us use a portable heater in the room (lots of rain). The breakfast was pretty good. Good restaurant within walking distance.

Cons: It was good for the price.

Nice property, lovely staff, not necessarily suitable for people without their own car though

Pros: The location is surrounded by nature, the staff goes out of their way to accommodate the guests. During breakfast, we saw a white-nosed coati on the porch. It‘s a really nice place.

Cons: We stayed in room 7 and unfortunately it was dripping into the bathroom from the roof. Not sure if this was just a temporary issue, but should be clarified in advance. Also, it was a bit cold and though the property itself is really nice, we don‘t feel like it‘s suitable for people without their own car as we had to spend a lot of money on taxi fares.

Lovely stay in Monteverde

Pros: Great wildlife viewing areas. Delicious breakfast served to your table each morning. Coffee and bread pudding at 3pm! Comfortable bed. Luxury, organic shampoo, soap and lotion. Friendly, helpful staff. (Hi Eva and Emmanuel!) A peaceful, private setting but dining options within walking distance.

Cons: Nothing. We loved it.

Beautiful spot to relax after hiking in the cloud forest

Pros: Beautiful accommodation including kitchenette/dining space/veranda. Communal dining area for breakfast/afternoon coffee, with an amazing view for nature watching. Lovely nature trail around property. Great breakfast. Staff very helpful, and able to advise on getting to both cloud forest reserves (we didn't have our own transport).

Cons: The bathroom could do with a little refresh in places, but this wouldn't stop me returning/recommending.

Wonderful place to stay.

Pros: Great setting with easily seen widlife including the wonderful motmots. Delicious breakfasts which had the option of lovely vegetables. Organised our tour to the cloud forest.
