Gingerbread Restaurant & Hotel

Pros: The staff were friendly, the room was unique and the included breakfast was delicious!

Cons: There wasn't an in-room safe.

Pros: Why come to Costa Rica and not stay at Eyal’s place? I arrived quite stressed, having messed up some travel plans, and within 5 minutes of arriving, all that stress had evaporated. Eyal is a wonderful, big hearted host. Once we had settled in, He had us driven down to the lake, with chairs, towels and beers and collected us a couple of hours later, thoroughly relaxed! Dinner was spectacular - by far the best meal we had in Costa Rica, and breakfast was great. Beds comfortable, rooms charming with a balcony overlooking Lake Arenal. Staying here, if only for one night, is an absolute must.

Gingerbread lives up to the reputation!

Pros: The food was amazing and there's nothing like Gingerbread anywhere. We had a balcony room and the view of the lake was so wonderful.

Cons: They could have stocked the room a bit better with more hotel toiletries (such as conditioner).

Pros: We absolutely loved the cooler temperatures. Be prepared for a unique experience…the shower had ornate ceiling with plants growing inside and up above. Breakfast was served “family style” and the owner/chef engaged with his guests. The beds were very comfortable and everything was clean. Surrounded by lush forest!

Cons: Two cottages were beside the highway and got a bit loud when trucks lumbered past. Otherwise it was perfect! A must stay!unique!

Pros: Fantastic Stay !!! Artist rooms with a Bohemian Feel ❤️💃🌺 Sounds of Jungle Howler monkeys and scented tropical flowers in your room puts you into a derp comfortable sleep after a amazing night of great food and wine. Your delicious breakfast awaits you in the moring...

Pros: Great location overlooking the lake. Wonderful wildlife. Excellent staff. Super food. They even kept our leftovers for us to have for lunch the next day. No waste!

Pros: The restaurant had excellent food. The chicken Marcella and shrimp risotto was so tasty. Mussels and escargot were divine! Chef Eyal is quite the character and makes sure his guests are well taken care of.

Fantastic room and meals!

Pros: This is a special place, Chef Eyal is top notch, we’ll know and loved and his staff are incredible. We stayed the night and had the Chef’s Choice Tastings dinner which was 7 course + dessert and fabulous. Room was comfortable and we were accommodated with an extra kids bed upon request for our family of 4. Breakfast was also amazing, we felt like family and will definitely be back as this is our 3rd time through Lake Arenal area and we visit every year.

Gingerbread is right on Lake Arenal, beautiful. But, the restaurant makes it really special here.

Pros: Chef Eyal’s cooking is beyond compare, I ate at Gingerbread’s restaurant on my last trip to La Fortuna and was determined to include it in my second trip. Both our dinner and later, our included breakfast were phenomenal, with fresh fruits and local ingredients that made the dishes truly special. I will always dream of coming back for more of Chef Eyal’s cooking!

Cons: Nothing! The stay was great and we had a lovely time.

Pros: L'hôtel est très joliment décoré et se situe au milieu d'un superbe jardin avec vue lac. Le petit-déjeuner était délicieux et changeait de l'ordinaire. Chambre très confortable, très calme.

Cons: J'aurais aimé pouvoir prendre le petit-déjeuner un peu plus tôt, mais la qualité des produits servis méritait l'attente !
