Pros: The stuff was really helpful! I was nervous that I had to leave so early in the morning to the airport, but the stuff promised to help me with taxi if I have problems with ordering one. Slept my night well knowing that.

My San Jose Home
Pros: As my 1st accommodation in Costa Rica they set the standard so high it went unmatched for the 3 weeks I stayed in the country. Although not modern, it features sizable dorms, comfortable beds, has no lockers but clothes hangers are available and valuables may be stored in a specialised room. Pretty good breakfast, decent shared kitchen with an impressive spice rack, stable wi-fi. All that, however, is just facilities. What truly makes the property stand apart are the staff and especially its manager, with his insights into local culture, support, and warmth. The fact that the building also houses a local NGO makes the place even more dynamic and provides opportunities for some interesting conversations.
Cons: n/a

Excellent choice for staying in San Jose!
Pros: The staff were so so cheerful and welcoming, I felt straight like being at home. The shared shower & toilet was spacious, and felt comfortable using. The kitchen, living room and several shared public spaces were really comfortable.
Cons: Nothing to mention!

The best value in downtown San Jose with a friendly staff, clean rooms and a free breakfast
Pros: Hostel Casa Ridgway was a perfect place for me to stay for a couple of nights to explore the sights of downtown San Jose. Besides being walking distance from multiple museums, parks and restaurants, the friendliness of Luis, Kendall and Brandon was a highlight of my stay. With coffee/tea and breakfast included, this is probably the best value in downtown San Jose.
Cons: Since this place is popular with families and students with a shared bathroom, some solo travelers might have trouble interacting with other guests, but I was fine with just having great conversations with the staff.

Calm place for our last segment of transit through Costa Rica
Pros: Casa Ridgeway hostel is walking distance from the museums and city parks. There are a few grocery stores within walking distance to buy food to prepare in the kitchen. Has Internet. The lounge and library area of the adjacent Peace center was a quiet area to keep up on business matters over the computer (despite our few days of sightseeing elsewhere in Costa Rica the week earlier). Conversations with other traveling clients were interesting. The personnel were helpful to arrange a late-night Uber ride to the airport for us, at this last stage of our passing through the country. Allow an hour for the ride between the airport and Casa Ridgeway, as rush hour traffic can be congested sometimes.
