Alta Las Palomas Hotel

We stayed in a suite which was very spacious and we loved everything about the hotel.

Pros: We chose this property at the conclusion of our holiday in order to chill out and relax after 3 weeks of adventures across Costa Rica. It was exactly what he had hoped for. The property is on the outskirts so is lovely and quiet and in a safe location. The views over the city are fabulous. The restaurant served very fine food but we felt was not overpriced. The pool area was relaxing and exactly what we wanted. All the staff were very helpful and made the stay so easy.

Cons: There was no gym or yoga despite signs indicating there was a gym and the description stating there was yoga on site. The spa treatments are available but there is not a practitioner on site so has to be prearranged. The sauna was within the changing rooms so you can only sauna with the same sex which meant my husband and I couldn’t share a sauna. This did not in anyway spoil our stay at Alta Las Palomas.

Fantastic hotel to chill. A mellow vibe.

Pros: Really quite quirky. Fabulous bedroom with large balcony. The food was good with a lot of variety. Very friendly and helpful staff.

Cons: The location could have been better but really easy to get an Uber.

Pros: Peaceful setting on the hill outside the city. Lovely restaurant and views. Enjoyed the animal sanctuary just a few minutes walk away. Great for a few days before our tour started.

Pros: Friendly quiet place with very good service. Cozy rooms, nice view and the ambiance in general is quite relaxing.

Amaxing retreat in the busy San Jose

Pros: The building, the design of the interior, facilities, restaurant, friendly staff and the most charming owner.

Cons: Can’t think of anything really!

Anniversary stay and dinner.

Pros: We stayed here for our last night of a two week trip exploring Costa Rica. We are a family of 4 with two teenage sons. It was our 20th wedding anniversary so we wanted to treat ourselves to somewhere special and this beautiful hotel gave us just that. Our sons had a twin room and we had the master suite which was lovely, including a jacuzzi tub in the bathroom. We enjoyed the pool area, then a thunderstorm rolled in. We loved getting a bottle of bubbly and sitting on the balcony watching the storm. The views from the balcony over the city are stunning. We had a delicious dinner as a family in the restaurant and a lovely breakfast the next morning. All the staff are helpful and friendly. A special end to an amazing trip.

Cons: It’s pricey- but worth it.

Pros: Design and atmosphere, kind and professional staff, supervised by knowledgable management/owner

Pros: It was very pretty! Nice big rooms and lovely outdoor areas.

Cons: Not very child friendly with all the stairs and no places for changing.
