Tío Felix Eco Lodge

Pros: A short drive out of the city but great location with friendly staff. Very close to La Fortuna waterfall. The great view from the unit was across farmland to the hills below Arenal. A nice bonus was there were lots of birds to photograph and the view of Arenal would be very nice if the weather was better.

Cons: The one room, with washroom, was a bit tight for our family of three adults. The walls are made of wood planks so there were some gaps, but the rain and bugs did stay on the outside so it wasn't really an issue. No soundproofing between adjoining units meant there wasn't much privacy when having conversations.

Memorable

Pros: Paradise for me, as wildlife photograper. Arrived late at night, woke up at 6 with birds sound. Took a camera, went out of my room and i spent all morning photographing thousands of birds. Fantastic garden, awesome staff. The lady that preparing breakfast gave as a lot of advices, so sweet. Location is pefect, you can see the volcan from there, if clear sky. I stayed in thousand of places around the world, this one will not be forgotten.

Pros: The environment and nature at the lodge is just great. We saw Tucan’s, hummingbirds and a lot of other beautiful birds which we struggled to identify

Cons: The dogs of the owners are barking a lot

Pros: Beautiful quiet garden with exotic blooms and view of Arenal

Cons: Earlier breakfast would have been more convenient for early sightseeing

I liked being a Tio Félix Eco Lodge, the place is beautiful but I would highly recommend to have a car as it’s not super

Pros: The location is beautiful. If the weather is good, you’ll have the best view on the volcano. I was unlucky with this but could see the potential! Also lots of birds around…

Cons: The personal is not extremely friendly when arriving (quite transactional). The owner is very friendly and helpful by WhatsApp if needed though. I would not recommend the lodge if you don’t have a car, it’s feasible by walk but quite long so you’ll need to always order Uber as it’s far away from everything. The breakfast is correct but not amazing. Note that you can hear the neighbours from the lodge.

Would recommend!

Pros: A wonderful stay at the ecolodge. It’s calm and peaceful, located just outside La Fortuna on the way to the waterfall — with cows as your neighbors. Marlene is very welcoming, and the breakfast is great. You can choose between a typical Costa Rican breakfast (gallo pinto) or toast and eggs. When the weather cooperates, you get a beautiful view of the volcano. There are also toucans and hummingbirds in the garden. Would recommend!

Cons: There’s no AC, but there are two fans — one of them is a bit loud, though. The room is also a little bit sound-permeable, so you may hear some noise from your the other guests.
