Chilamate Rainforest Eco Retreat

Pros: The staff is super nice and made our stay perfect. It’s in the rainforest so you are totally immersed.

Brilliant staff, location and surroundings

Pros: It’s situation next to the river and forest. The relaxed environment of the property itself. The staff were excellent.

Cons: The need to cross the river to take meals

Pros: Really liked the thought that had gone into the Chilamate ethos. The people working there were very helpful and passionate about their work. We enjoyed the food when we ate there and walking the trails round the lodge. We booked our white water rafting through the lodge and the company they used were the best - Rios Pura Vida, I would highly recommend them.

Cons: The ongoing work means things can be a little disjointed across the two property elements.

Relaxing in beautiful nature

Pros: We loved the location and wildlife. The friendly and knowledgeable staff were always ready to help. Amazing place to relax and take time to reflect. Delicious food. Great walk to breakfast over the river.

Cons: Beds a little uncomfortable but fine. Cold showers.

Pros: The staff was very nice and helpful, and the location is great!

Great stay in the middle of the nature

Pros: Great atmosphere and great place Staff is super friendly and helps you planning your activities Plenty of possible activities ! Really nice breakfast and dinner

Cons: Dark room and no AC, which is inconvenient when it’s raining a lot.

Amazing and hugely friendly staff who respect the environment

Pros: The staff were so lovely and helpful in particular Geneir and leana and the food very tasty and good for vegetarians. The only negative is the tours on site are expensive. In contrast the horse riding we thought was very reasonable and huge shout out for Alberto Quintana with the Hacienda Pozo Azul horse company. He’s very experienced and takes great care of inexperienced riders . Overall this property has huge respect for its environment and are leaders in the field

Cons: Expense of walking tours on property - 40 dollars per person for two hours. They are excellent but pricey if there are 4 of you.

Loved it with young kids

Pros: Stayed with our 4 year old and 9 month old. Fantastic because you don't have to go far to feel like you're really trekking in the rainforest. They have wellies to borrow when it rains and torches for walking around at night. We stayed in the family suite which is the other side of the river and absolutely huge! We really recommend breakfast and dinner too! Watched hummingbirds from the hammocks.

Cons: Nothing, it was great! 2 nights was enough for us but you could do more if it wasn't so wet.

Loved a very relaxing stay. We made good use of the hammocks after some exciting rafting. Very recommended.

Pros: Very beautiful set-up, super-friendly staff, great location if you want to do activities on the river (rafting).

Cons: Relatively close to a busy road: apart from the river you also hear trucks go by.
