Pros: The place is clean; the meals are good; the grounds are beautiful and there are wildlife to see, including coati, agouti, and alligstor, and of course many beautiful birds. Our trip was about dragonflies and we found some nice ones there. Staff are nice and helpful!
Cons: The room doesn't have a fridge or kettle and also I wish the room a bit bigger.

Awesome birding location
Pros: The location is hard to beat. We didn’t need to leave the property to see the incredible bird life in the region. Everything was comfortable, clean, spacious rooms. Marlo was super helpful and friendly. As was Didier on the boat tour and lobster lunch.
Cons: Given the delicious local food we had in Boca Tapada and Boca San Carlos , breakfast at the lodge was consistently very poor. Cold eggs, soggy toast.

Great bird photography location
Pros: Staff were amazing doing their best to give you a great experience. It was obvious that they were passionate about delivering exceptional service: everyone from guides to those serving dinner were fantastic. Most people had worked there a long time and took real pride in the lodge. Nothing was too much trouble. We were heading to their macro tour and the guide directing us there stopped and showed us a laughing falcon. That kind of consideration for our experience was shown consistently during our stay. We took the public bus there from Pital and they kindly picked us up which was really helpful to our budget. Everything is run incredibly well and the bird feeders helped elevate the experience as there was always something beautiful to watch. Food was great and the accommodation was simple, clean and comfortable. The hammocks overlooking the beautiful, peaceful gardens were a bonus
Cons: It would have been nice to have some hummingbird feeders to complement the other bird feeders

Just excellent
Pros: Fantastic wildlife. This is one of the best eco-lodges you can find. A mature lodge. Food is excellent and the staff is better. Just a great place. Second trip there.
Cons: That I have to fly to Costa Rica to get there

Immersive Nature Experience
Pros: We spent two nights at Laguna del Lagarto Eco-Lodge and enjoyed it very much. The lodge offers a truly immersive nature experience, with stunning views from the restaurant that make you feel completely surrounded by the wild. The property is well-maintained and features its own trails, with a variety of daily activities available for booking upon arrival. Whether you're interested in photographic hides, guided walks, or searching for different species, there's always something to do. We can definitely recommend the short caiman tour in the evening and the King Vulture hides for photographers. A special mention to our guide Henry who has been passionately showing people around for over 20 years! The food at the lodge is excellent. While there's a set menu, we found every meal to be delicious and satisfying. The quality of the food was a pleasant surprise and added to the overall enjoyment of our stay.
Cons: One downside was the lack of air conditioning in the rooms (only a little fan that doesn't really cool the room much). This wouldn't be an issue during cooler weather, but our visit coincided with a heat wave, which made it uncomfortably hot with few ways to cool down. Despite this, Laguna del Lagarto Eco-Lodge is a fantastic destination for nature lovers. Its beautiful setting, great food, and range of activities make it a great choice for anyone looking to experience the natural beauty of the area.

Exceptional. Can’t wait to visit again
Pros: The location set in the rainforest is so beautiful. While most of the route to the lodge is now paved, the last few kilometres is still on a gravel track. You feel that you are at one with nature. As a wildlife photographer I feel this is one of the best lodges to capture the amazing birds that visit the feeders Adolpho made us feel extremely welcome
Cons: While I love the rustic nature of the lodge, the high humidity was difficult to deal with in the absence of A/C. Only a small inconvenience though as the room had an enormous fan

Fabulous bird life and wildlife, equally fabulous staff.
Pros: Kurt and his team (Henry, Domingo and Didier) went above and beyond to make our stay memorable. From Henry calling out to Agressivo the Caiman, Domingos guiding on the trails and Didier going the extra mile to show us different birds right through to Kurt’s attention at the end of our stay. Antonello the manager was also great. And the bird life and other wildlife was just stunning.
Cons: Nothing off note.

escape to last remote spot and pure nature
Pros: perfect location at the jungle. good food as buffet. children are welcome too. reasonable prices considering to be in the middle of nowhere. tours were nice too, can recommend the night walk and caiman tour, haven’t done anything else. free Kanu at the lagoon. access to the lodge is not as difficult than thought. route 205 is fully sealed and last but unsealed but manageable by car.
Cons: as it’s a bird paradise, there will be photo tours and the viewing deck will have a lot of tripods and photographers starting to take photos from 5am. didn’t bother us as there is still plenty of room and other spots. we travelled with two small children and no one seemed to be annoyed (yeahhh)
