Jaguarundi Jungle Lodge - Monteverde

Pros: Cercano al centro de la ciudad, excelente locación

Cons: Bug spray must be needed

Pros: It was a nice stay. The lodges are a bit small, has then walls and roof, so it could be noisy (thankfully it did not rain) and was a bit cold. But overall an unique experience where you feel like you are in the jungle.

A hidden gem in the rainforest

Pros: The room is basic and quaint but we were there because it was in the middle of the rainforest surrounded by nature and wildlife everywhere. We saw many animals, even on our terrace. Breakfast is included and excellent, dinner was very good but the happy hour is delightful after a day's hiking and sunset is spectacular. The staff are extremely friendly, especially Aylin, Manfred and Jorge. The staff in Fig restaurant onsite were some of the most friendly helpful happy people ever.

Cons: The mattress needed replacing, a very small fridge would have been great.

Overall we had a really great stay which exceeded our expectations.

Pros: Excellent breakfast and service. We walked up the hill for breakfasts and one dinner, and we were able to manage this and it was interesting even in the rain. Receptionists helped us a lot. We liked the forest setting.

Cons: We could have been offered clothes drying facilities as we had continuous rain. Before we arrived we tried to get information about guided tours but were only offered the basic Selvatura list which did not meet our needs. Not clear where lodge was sited in relation to the local shops etc but it turned out to be very convenient.

Jaguarundi Jungle Lodge - Stunning Surroundings

Pros: Great location and absolutely stunning surrounds. It really felt like we were staying in the middle of the jungle, particularly with the resident howler monkeys hooting and hollering. Dylan and Manfred at reception were fantastic and made sure we had everything we needed. Breakfast at the Ficus Hotel next door was also a great inclusion.

Cons: Our room was a little small to accommodate three people in a double and single. There was no A/C, but a fan was provided as it was a little stuffy on arrival. No A/C needed as it got quite cool overnight. The room was a little dark due to the overhead tree canopy and verandah surrounding the building.

Simple but good location and lots of wildlife.

Pros: Good location in easy walking distance of Santa Elena restaurants. Saw lots of animals in the grounds (monkeys, capybara, coati). Simple but comfortable rooms and a good shower.

Cons: Balcony is part of the shared walkway. Fine for us in the low season but in high season might not be comfortable to sit outside and have people walking past.

Pros: Good location to town centre, restaurants and not too far from the Cloud Forest or Selvatura. Nice 1km trial inside the property with some Agouti’s.

Lovely quick stay

Pros: Lovely bathroom with sime free toiletries, bedroom too was overall great and views outside were lovely. We saw lots of animals from our very own window and could hear monkeys etc! The free breakfast was also outstanding at the neighbouring hotel. The staff were also helpful carring our luggage to the cabin.

Cons: Had to walk quite a bit to get to the hotel for breakfast and slightly up hill but the whole town was like that! Also the design of the cabin meant the rain falling sounded super loud and intensified, also wasn't that much space in the room and when we were stuck in there during the rain felt a bit of cabin fever. Wish there was a TV in there.

Pros: The hotel and their garden / trail are cery nice

Cons: The rooms are pretry dark and some of the nets on the window need a redo to seal the room, anti moscito is needed

Nice

Pros: It was very nice. Although very close to the main road, you had the impression that you were in the middle of the jungle.

Cons: The ‘wall’ separating the two cabins were pretty small and you could hear everything. The choice of breakfast was relatively limited.
