Excellent stay in Terra Viva

Pros: Jose was outstanding. From the moment we made contact he was our guardian angel. He took care of everything including wonderful tips about what's worth doing and what to avoid or skip. The breakfast products left for us in the well equipped kitchen were great too.

Cons: Hot water was only in the main shower. It should be improved by adding additional water heaters for the sinks in the kitchen and in the bathroom/toilet.

Nice stay

Pros: The stay at farm was really nice. Good location, very friendly staff. Small downside is that we woke up with a scorpion next to our head. Downside of being in nature I guess 😅

Beautiful accommodation, but barking dogs are a negative point

Pros: Beautiful location and view from the accommodation. A little chilly at night, but sufficient blankets, towels and kitchen supplies.

Cons: The barking dogs at night made it difficult to sleep. Sometimes they’d bark at 9pm, 3am, 7am. That was frustrating.

Authentic and charming, with a few quirks

Pros: Excellent communication with José the Host. Really convenient location to visit Santa Elena town but also the Selvatura park and Santa Elena reserve in the other direction. Very good and more than sufficient breakfast supplies were provided, with especially delicious juices! We received very clear instructions about everything already in advance and José was kindly flexible regarding check-in and check-out times. The host also booked a dinner restaurant for us and offered help with booking activities.

Cons: Like others have said, if it rains, even the slightest drizzle will make deafening noise on the roof, so if you are a light sleeper bring earplugs. The driveway is a bit challenging - it is very steep with a deeeeeep and sharp-edged ditch running right across the road exactly where you're supposed to turn down to the driveway. But don't be put off! It is supposed to rain in Monteverde and this finca is such an authentic place to stay. We enjoyed our time there a lot and José was a great host who does his job with his heart.

Most amazing accommodation we ever had

Pros: Me and my husband loved this Finca! To wake up in the morning and have the nature directly in front of your eyes is unbeatable. We really appreciated that the ingredients for the breakfast were supplied in the fridge for the whole stay so we could prepare our breakfast when we wanted and how we wanted. There was oil, salt, coffee, sugar and tea so we didn't need to worry about buying those basics. The construction seems very new and the shower and bathroom are very modern with warm water. In the night it gets cold so they already provide in the Finca extra 4 blankets just in case (which we actually needed :D) Jose was our host and he was always available on Whatsapp for our questions

Cons: In the night it gets really cold, so it would be great to have a matt or carpet in front of the shower so we don't have to go directly on the cold tiles or alternatively to provide house slippers. But honestly, everything was perfect, we loved it from the heart

Pros: Beautiful cabin with wood and big windows. Lots of blankets. Comfortable beds. Amazing stuff for breakfast in the fridge. Hot water for shower.

Cons: No AC or heat (we didn't need it at all). No hair dryers

100% recommended for a stay in nature

Pros: Very cosy stay in the middle of nature! The house did have everything we needed, you could even cook our own meals you want. It was a nice experience to make your own breakfast in the morning with all the fresh ingredients from the farm. It’s located on a 10min drive from the city center, which makes it very silent environment. The staff was very friendly and helped us on very short notice with our bookings for tours.

Immersion in the countryside

Pros: A beautiful place to stay in the countryside, with the opportunity to see animals (cows, coatis, etc.). We were able to feed the calves. Jose is very kind and responsive. Breakfast features local products.

Cons: Located in the countryside, there may be unwanted creatures present. Unfortunately, the accommodation is not completely airtight; we had a visit from a scorpion.

Lovely place

Pros: Beautiful surroundings, quiet location though some of the chalets are pretty close to each other. Included breakfast is fine to start with.

Cons: There are no real curtains so expect to wake up early if you’re sensible to daylight.

Lovely chalet in the mountains

Pros: Loved our chalet in the mountains. Very spacious and comfortable. Well equipped kitchen, great views. My daughter loved feeding the baby cows.

Cons: Patio table wasn’t too comfortable. The road leading to our chalet was very narrow.
