Otoya 1907 Hotel

Pros: Very friendly, quiet apartments. Everything you need. Breakfast in the cafe next door.

Cons: Bathroom cleanliness was only passable.

Perfect breakfast, great surroundings

Pros: The breakfast is the best we've had in Costa Rica - and that's saying something! Great coffee, freshly squeezed orange juice, delicious eggs and gallo pinto. The location is superb for exploring San Jose. Don't listen to those who say there's nothing to see in this city - we spent two days exploring and loved going home to Otoya 1907 Hotel. Our holiday didn't get off to the best start because our luggage was delayed. Otoya staff were really helpful when the courier from the airport arrived the next day (thankfully!)

Cons: The room was basic. I did not like the harsh light bulb - the room needed a lamp! The sink was wobbly and coming away from the wall. Cold shower but we get used to this and soon realised it's standard for Costa Rican budget hotels. In fact we ended up enjoying our cold showers - it's good for you!

Pros: We had a clean room with a small kitchen and hot water as long as the pressure wasn't too high.

Pros: Awesome location. Great staff. Clean and cool place!

Cons: Nothing.

Overall, for the price, location, and quality of the breakfast, this is a great place to stay!

Pros: The complimentary breakfast, which has been recently added to the accommodations, is amazing! There are two options: one with fruit and yogurt, and the other with gallo pinto, platanos maduros, amazing bread, avocado, and eggs. You also have the option between coffee and a cappuccino. The hot water was perfect and there was a shared kitchen and eating area outside of the room. It's right next door to an amazing restaurant (where you eat breakfast) and within walking distance of the center of San Jose.

Cons: There was only a trash can in the bathroom, another one could be added for other bigger trash. Some added lighting like a bedside lamp would make the room more inviting as well. There's a lot of outside noise from trains, which would affect a light sleeper. While the breakfast was amazing, it would be nice to be able to have more options, or a protein option to go with the fruit.

Pros: Good location. Big bathroom. Comfortable bed. Nice personeel.

Cons: The douche was broken, we had to use the douche of another room. Luckily it was still vacant. The kitchen is poorly equipped. They are renovating the common area so no place to chill outside your room

Very lovely staff, and very well situated

Pros: The property is very conveniently situated and there is an excellent cafe within the property, though do be aware it closes early. Next door there is also a very good pub with delicious food and very friendly staff.

Cons: We found the electrics to be a little worrying and the first room we were in was very damp, but the manager moved us after the first night and things were better in the second room

Pros: The hotel was , clean, basic, near to tourist attractions and good value for money 💰 💰

Cons: I didn't like the fact, that I slipped on the bottom step, twisting both my ankles, rendering my unable to walk whilst there! No one's fault and the staff looked after me!

Pros: Great service and location, super yummy cafe right beside the hostel.

Cons: A bit noisy at nights

Pros: Staff and position were excellent! The cafe otoya next door is a super plus

Cons: Almost absent hot water :(
