Fantastic place to stay

Pros: Great place to stay Lovely water front area to chill out 20 minutes' walk from the town Immediate access to both the beach and the lagoon Nice pool Great breakfast

Cons: The dinner at the hotel is average. Lots of 'western' food like pasta and burgers and no local dishes. Average. However food at breakfast and lunch is excellent

A beautiful, nature-filled escape perfectly located just a short walk from town

Pros: • Location: Convenient 12-minute walk to town. • Property: Beautiful, lush grounds with plenty of trees and wildlife. • Dining: Varied and delicious breakfast. • Logistics: Seamless boat transfers to/from the airport.

Cons: • Bedding: Pillows were a bit too large and firm for my liking.

Amazing start to our Costa Rica stay

Pros: Beautiful hotel set in amazing grounds. Lovely riverside location set back from the main town, but easy to walk to. Wildlife on site was lovely to see, look in the trees near the dock and try to spot the iguanas!

Cons: No complaints, our stay was lovely

We would stay again, it was a lovely place, well located with pleasant staff.

Pros: Breakfast was excellent. The location is fantastic with the sea on one side and canales on the other. The wildlife in the lodge garden was exciting and surprisingly diverse.

Cons: Drying clothes was impossible in the humidity and a way to get clothes dried, not necessarily washed, would have been useful. The food menu was limited although the lunch bowls and tacos were very good. We didn’t eat any evening meals as there was nothing we fancied.

Amazing!

Pros: Amazing location and facilities. Great places to sit and relax and enjoy the views. Great meal on floating restaurant. Book floating restaurant early if you want to go for dinner, great experience but limited numbers available for obvious reasons.

Paradise

Pros: What a beautiful hotel in a stunning location. Our room was spacious and comfortable, the decor is lovely We loved walking around the beautiful grounds and spotting wildlife, including a sloth behind room 33. An easy 15/20 min stroll to the local town with shops and places to eat, also only a 10 walk from the turtle sanctuary, which is a worth a visit even when you can’t see the turtles, as it has a very interesting history of the national park There were lots of spots to sit and enjoy the scenery. The floating restaurant katonga is a great experience and the staff onboard were very friendly

Cons: It was very hot and humid, even late into the evening, so not having air conditioning in the room did make it hard to get ready for dinner and to sleep. It would stop us staying longer if we stayed again, which is a shame. Also no kettle or mugs in the room to make coffee was odd and frustrating, as we had to wait until the restaurant opened at 7am and go get one to bring to the room We did the night tour on 24th Jan and the guide did not have much enthusiasm, he’s seemed like he didn’t want to be there and we did not see much on the tour, plus the group size was too big. Other guests said they booked a different tour and had a much better experience, so we don’t recommend using the hotels tour

Pros: Rooms spread around a beautiful garden with many birds. Lovely bar, restaurant and pool made it a lovely stay. 15min walk into the town either along the beach or a clear pathway.

Cons: Nothing - wish we stayed longer than two nights! Lots of tours start early so sometimes a little noisy at 6am but we did not mind and we also went on a kayak trip arranged by the hotel which was fantastic.

Great place to base your exploration of the Rainforest from

Pros: You have to accept this was in the middle of the rainforest so the accommodation lent itself to the environment - we stayed in a wooden bungalow which was very spacious and very clean. Nice size pool and a brilliant location to see ample wildlife and go off exploring. Food was ok. Trips out were excellent really experienced guides we saw so much wildlife.

Cons: Our bungalow was very spacious and nicely furnished but the lighting was dim and after 3 nights it became a drag not being able to see eg to read indoors - windows were netting (no glass) all very eco but dark wooden shutters needed to be closed for privacy so made it even darker inside. Staff were not overly helpful - we checked our trip which we had booked in advance on arrival and were told the wrong information which meant mwe missed it. No one was sorry! But we did get on another the next day.

Fabulous stay in a unique location - highly recommend.

Pros: Incredible location with river bordering one side of lodge and the beach the other. Well kept grounds with lots of places to relax. Enjoyed the kayak tour and hill walk providing great views of Tortugeura. Excellent guides on tours organised by the hotel. Great wildlife spotting in the hotel grounds

Cons: We were very pleased with our choice of lodge. Rooms are quite basic but fine for a few nights.
