Occidental Papagayo - Adults Only All Inclusive

Lovely holiday in a peaceful location

Pros: We had a lovely view over looking the bay, but the property is very spread out. You need to ring for a shuttle or walk to the reception, which is very hilly. The grounds are beautiful and very well maintained. The property could do with being refurbished.

Two great weeks at Occidental Papagayo!

Pros: The locale is beautiful. Food was great with local specialities. The room was lovely and spacious. The staff was very service minded and pleasant to deal with. There were daily activities to participate in.The shuttle service worked well, because the property is on a steep hill. Great tours are offered at a special lobby desk.

Cons: I was missing seating areas along the paths. The pool should be refilled with water every day to reach 1.40 cm, so it's easier to swim. More umbrellas are needed for shade around the pool. An afternoon snack should be offered, because it's a long time between lunch and dinner. Proper youghurt was lacking at breakfast, ie plain, no sugar youghurt should be offered.

Warm, caring and friendly staff in a paradise you may not want to leave!

Pros: Everything was perfect! The all inclusive meant just that. You literally just need to show up with clothes, and everything else is there for you. Check-in was fast and efficient and they explained how restaurants, bars and services worked. They have free activities and pay per tours if you want to keep busy, or access to a beautiful beach, two wonderful clean pools or a quiet lounge if you just want to relax, each never over crowded with the amount of guests at the same time. The staff are wonderful, very professional and a few I could fall in love with ;). The food was top notch, whether the buffet or a reserved evening at the three, I'd say 5-star restaurants. I truly can't say enough about this place, an exceptional resort for couples or solo. Thanks again Occidental Papagayo, Guanacaste for an amazing week. Pura Vida!

Cons: Well, I gave cleanliness a few stars less, not because of not clean, but more so for maintenance. Tap in my room was wobbly, noticed a fire alarm box hanging loose near my room and some concrete was breaking free causing a tripping hazard. I'd love to return, for a free stay, to offer training to staff on how to repair those types of items. Everything else was top notch and shouldn't have loose or broken anything. Other than that issue, there wasn't anything I didn't like!

Pros: The rooms are great very comfort and pretty tranquil

Cons: One of the swimming pool just offered beverage however in that placle should be available snack instead to move to snack building that is closer from the 1 pool, also tbe front desk was slow with the reservations when it has been done 5 months

Pros: Amazing setting overlooking the bay, big resort with a lot of privacy, food was great, very friendly staff! You can see some monkeys on the property.

Fantastic resort

Pros: The staff were fantastic!! friendly people, so many activities and great food. The views were spectacular, and there was live entertainment daily. Would highly recommend this resort

Cons: The only suggestion I have is to add yoga to the resort

Pros: The perfect way to end our vacation. Loved the ocean beach and the abundance of parrots flying around the resort. We even saw a family of monkeys around the property.

Pros: Food Manager Enrico, very helpful and informative. food very good. Drinks not so good.

Pros: Paradise resort with great pools and remarkable service. I'd like to address some of the occasional negative reviews regarding the dining experience at this resort: This is a moderate priced resort in a high price country. The food is excellent and we loved it, but it is not the 5-Star gourmet dining you get in a 5-times-more-expensive french ski resort.

Nice and comfortable, good vibes! Would stay again

Pros: Loved that it was adults only. Everyone staying at the hotel were really friendly, we spent hours in the swim up mini pool chatting. Private beach with kayaks (free), massages (on the beach are cheap and good!) and jet ski’s. Howler monkeys live on site eating the mangoes and the largest iguanas we saw on holiday too. The food buffet was good for vegetarians but lacking in protein but this was true for everywhere in Costa Rica we stayed. It is on a hillside so expect to walk a bit around the property as it’s a big place. Room was lovely.

Cons: Bring mosquito spray. The a la carte oriental food wasn’t good but again we are vegetarians. Minor thing but the music in the restaurants was awful - total lift music. So simple but makes a difference to your experience.
