Termales del Arenal

Pros: Loved this place. The little hut was very cute- we had an issue with hot water tank which was fixed immediately. Location was perfect- off the main road- and far enough to not hear the traffic. Parking was right by our place of stay. In the morning the breakfast was very good. They have a big tree there where the cook feeds the birds- so you get to watch all types of birds right by you- saw more birds here than any of the 5 national parks we visited. Thank you!

Pros: The room is big and has a lot of space. The hot pool is very nice especially after a day of hiking of long walks. The location is near the center. Staff are very friendly. The place is clean and the surrounding is very green and relaxing.

Cons: Breakfast is good although may be too little options.

Great value for comfortable stay in unique environment/Thermal pools are great, staff super friendly

Pros: Very nice place, with unique cabin-style rooms that provide comfortable sleeping areas in charming environment.

Cons: We had a power cut one evening and had to go to nearby La Fortuna for dinner.

Relaxation with rural atmosphere

Pros: The hotel is surrounded by nature, creating a calm and relaxation with rural atmosphere. There are four outdoor hot spring pools in hotel, offering views of the Arenal Volcano. You are seeking a quiet vacation, away from a stress, this is a one of nice place.

Cons: The water temperature in all the outdoor hot spring pools was low. I recommend one of the four pools has to be heated more.

Unique setting

Pros: The bungalows are unique - felt like glamping. Despite having no air conditioning (they have another type of accommodation which has air conditioning), it did not feel that hot in the morning or evening. Most visitors would be out during the hottest hours of the day so shouldn't matter too much.

Cons: Food quality was inconsistent - tasty in the morning, quite bad in the evening (not sure about other times as I did not eat lunch there). I gave them this feedback and I felt listened. I understand that the staff members for AM and PM are different so PM staff may need more training. Pool temperature was all the same - the 'cold' pool felt warm and all the hot pools were pretty much of the same temperature. No variety.

Beautiful Place with amazing staff

Pros: We love our stay at the Thermales. Kendal was so nice and welcoming. The bungalow are so cute and comfortable and the pools are great. You can use the pool after closing and get a very private experience.

Cons: Nothing.

Away from the crowd, calm and relaxing, but still close to center and nature attractions

Cons: Sometimes, I felt the music at the pools was a bit loud, but the staff accepted to turn it down and that was really nice, because all the guests were relaxing, not partying .

Beautiful property would definitely recommend

Pros: We loved the simplicity of this lovely little gem of a property. The hot springs were amazing - staff very friendly and we had a deluxe chalet which was reasonably priced and absolutely excellent. Watching the local beautiful birds come down to the fruit laden bird tables whilst we ate breakfast was wonderful. Would definitely recommend.

Cons: The property was about 3km outside of La Fortuna which was fine for us as we had a car - it may be a little more difficult without transport

A wonderfully quiet & friendly place to stay with 4 hot pools & 1 cold to relax and close to excursions

Pros: We stayed in one of their cabins which we found spacious. The bed was comfortable and there were no mosquitos inside, with a well functioning AC system and no gaps. The garden is incredible, you have a good view of the volcano and we saw several birds in the garden like toucans and wild turkeys. The 5 pools are small but most of the time we would have an entire pool for ourselves and you can use them until late at night. We also enjoyed drinks in the pool most nights and the bartender, Adrian, takes order and brings drinks to you. All the staff are incredibly friendly and we really enjoyed the quietness and the privacy. The location is out of town (a few minutes walking from Ecotermales). Despite being out of town, you can walk a few minutes to the nearby restaurants and the shop. They also have an onsite restaurant but the menu is limited due the hotel being so small. The food was good though and the included breakfast is delicious, we loved the huevos rancheros.

Cons: The menu at the restaurant can have more variety.

Fantastic Staff!!!

Pros: Stayed in a grass roofed bungalow, there is a bed, toilet and shower, little else. The rooms are basic but you immersed in to the local nature. The pools are very relaxing after a day out and about. The little bar and breakfast are excellent. The staff really made our stay wonderful, so much fun, they even tried to teach us some Spanish. \
