Occidental Tamarindo - All Inclusive

Great stay!!!!

Pros: Nice property, good food, nice beach activities - the staff were really, really friendly

Pros: Perfect location, awsome beautiful and quiet beach, great rooms, big bathroom and shower, aircondition controlled from.single.room, park plot for free, nice.and helpfull stuff

Cons: food in main restaurant is for local 3 stars hotel standard, absolutely not for 5 star Barcelo grid hotel... boring, boring, and one more.time boring.menu, and very little choice...

very good value for money, especially if booked well in advance

Pros: fairly small hotel, it is the second time we stay here, we enjoyed the food and food variety (during the Easter week much better compared to our first stay in January), the rooms are quite modern, the beach is very nice, entertainment at the pool was great, when booked in advance you get really good deals

Pros: All the rest of it, the staff were wonderful; especially the travel agent for the tours, she was amazing

Cons: There could have been some more up to date information in the brochure, like how laundry works (as the information was out of date).

Relaxing way to spend a week - felt like a health retreat

Pros: There was a relaxed flow to the day on the resort with large windows of time to go to the free buffet for breakfast, lunch and dinner and with plenty of drinks and snacks throughout the rest of the day. In between there was life around the pool area and I particularly enjoyed the aqua aerobics as well as reading at the beach cafe where you could be mesmerised with both the ocean and the swimming pool area at the same time. Dipping in and out of the pool througout the day was great as well as the sunsets down at the beach.

Cons: The room was somewhat tired with lots of minor things not well maintained - the airconditioning leaked drops of water on the floor, the door to the veranda was very stiff but able to be opened, the flyscreen door to the verandar was broken. I wouldn't have expected these things in such a high level resort. Also you should be aware that the resort is about 2 kms from Tamarindo beach / town and the resort offers no transportaton there so I took a local taxi that cost me US$16 for the return trip.

excelent value for money

Pros: Nice and spacious room, clean with daily service at convenient times during the day, nice architecture and landscaping of the overall resort, well-taken care of vegetation, excellent location, large swimming pool - most of the time the water temperature was warm, decent food variety at the main restaurant, good selection of games to be played at the pool.

Pros: The hotel had all we needed. A great few days of relaxing on the beach. We loved the live music in the evenings and the drinks. The room was very comfortable and we found our few days there very peaceful. The japanese restaurant was lovely (and air conditioned!), good sushi.

Cons: The dining room was not airconditioned, only had overhead fans. It did get quite hot there and we overheated a little.

Fantastic stay and location was amazing, having the estuary next to the beach was an experience. Would definitely recomm

Pros: The facilities around the property were very good and all the staff were very friendly and extremely helpful. We took the opportunity to use the spa which was very good and reasonably priced for a couples massage.

Cons: The rooms could do with a little modernisation, we stayed in the duplex suite and it looked very tired and needed updating.

Great beach front location, very good staff.

Pros: Great location, right on beach. Good Food options. Drinks were ok, too much sugar for my test.

Cons: Drinks could be litter better.
